Browning Birdsnest

Polyps are still neon green but the "skin" used to be white and is now brown.

Could this be due to phosphates?

I have this on the bottom of a 29gal tank lit w/ 150w of MH. Should I move it higher up?

keep your phosphates in check and move it closer to the lights. Been at the bottom corner is probably getting the least light

I was told that they don't like much light at all, but I was too lazy to read up on this. Looks like I might have been misinformed. But it's my fault for not verifying the accuracy of the original info.

I had a pink birdnest colony (RIP), colored up nicely closer to the lights (250W)

Medium to strong lighting I believe what is needed for birdnest, Mine is up at the lights, You are probably too low in the tank. How long have you had it?

If it was white, it was "unhealthy/slightly bleached, and has now regained some zooxanthelli (spelling ?).

Really!?!? Interesting. Zooxanthellae (I think)

i got a frag from bigacre and it did really well under my power compact lighting, but even after a gradual introduction to my metal halides, it bleached. i think i gave it too much light.


i'll have to try again in my new tank once i get that set up.
