BRS Dual (Chaeto) Reactor

I'm betting the walls of the reactor will grow film algae, which will then keep light from getting to the chaeto. Also, doesn't seem like it would tumble well in there.

Here is my version, an Aquamaxx biopellet reactor and some ebay led grow strips. Excellent results. I use a Floyd Turbo's L2 on both a 90g and 150g, Aquaamaxx EM200 & 300 skimmers.

Here is a cleaning. ATS's biweekly, and chaeto reactor bi monthly.

What kind of LEDs are you using and where did you get them? Hows this working, is it still up?

I use 5050 SMD LED strips from Ebay, item # 291295623501. You can see them HERE. I cut them to length. The chaeto reactor is fed by a Sicce Syncra 1.

This works excellent, and yes it is still up. Once the initial hit of removing the buildup of excess nutrients was removed, now it grows slowly. My ATS still has to be cleaned biweekly. Between these two, and my skimmer, I honestly feel it is all you need for filtration.

Thanks, how much flow do you run through it? Also do have any issues with lights not penetrating because of algae build up?

I'm not seeing how you can go without a skimmer using cheato. Two different things they remove

I'm skimmerless and used chaeto and caulerpa as my sole filtration and it worked well. I added a DIY ATS and my water quality is more stable than it ever was with a skimmer.
