BRS group buy interest?

Love The Fish
I need 9 people to constitute a group buy. I'm trying to order my RODI finnally and the shipping is killing me, so I thought I would try to organize a group buy and save a little on shipping and get a discount at the same time. Let me know if you interested and we will see if we can get enough people.

cool, now we just need like 8 or 9 more people to jump in. Everyone thats part of the group buy will be upgraded to preferred and get discounts for life.

Im thinking the BRS 75 gpd rodi. I really havent decided exactly which one yet, but thats the one I have my eye on. Any reviews would be greatly appreciated though.

I have the BRS RODI and I LOVE it for two reasons:

1) it came plug and play right out of the box. I set it up to run the waste water into my laundry machine. It was very easy to do, so now all my laundry water is recycled.

2) it performs WAY over spec. I purchased the 75gpd system. Mine produces closer to 180gpd (or, in more practical terms, 5 gallons every 40 minutes). It also generates waste water at the relatively low ratio of about 2:1. The BRS folks explained that this high performance likely results from two factors:

a) my higher than usual water pressure and
b) an overperforming RO membrane (the replacement may or may not work as well. fingers crossed.)

P.S. I also love the BRS media reactors. I recently stocked way up on BRS or else I'd be all over this GB.

We need 10 people in order for this to work out. I have 4 so far, so maybe more will jump in and we can make this happen. For those not familiar with BRS group buys, after all the group names and e-mails go in, you have a week to order your stuff yourself and everybody's stuff gets shipped to their house. Theres no pickup from someones elses house, just an easy discount and an updated status on your BRS account so you can save money every time you order stuff.

Tanque Verde thanks for the review, that makes me feel alot better about going with BRS. I also bought a reactor from them and I love it. Good idea on recycling the water in the washing machine.

this..hobby...burns...money... lol

im trying so hard to resist getting in on this group buy..i want some reactors....but i dont think i need them yet...ugghhh haha

sillygoose, Im not sure exactly how much the discount is but I will call as soon as I know that we have enough interest. Its says somewhere between retail and wholesale. Maybe that 10% will be on top of the group buy discount. I will let all know as soon as I know.

russman, its not too late Im still trying to get enough people together. If you know anyone let em know.

Ok, here is how it works. We are up to 7 people at the moment and need 3 more if anyone knows anyone that might be interested. I tried to call and get some more details but they were closed already. Hopefully I will get home early enough to call them tomorrow. I would like to start this thing by Tuesday if possible.
Thanks
Brett

To set up a Group Buy with BulkReefSupply.com simply:
Gather a minimum of 10 participants
Instruct everyone to create an account on BulkReefSupply.com if they don't have one already *critical*
Pick a Tuesday the group buy will start. Group buys run Tuesdays through the following Monday.
Complete the group buy form and send to GroupBuys@BulkReefSupply.com . You can download the form by clicking this link or send a request to the email address above.
Then what? Here is what will happen after your list is emailed:
On the pre-determined Tuesday each participant will receive an email notifying them that the Group Buy has started.
Participants can start buying as soon as they get this email. Please wait for this email before placing orders!
During the group buy week participants will login to their own account to place their own order, which ships immediately.
At the end of the Group Buy each participant's account will be changed to Preferred Customer. BRS Preferred Customer pricing is generally between our retail and group buy prices. This permanent upgrade is our way of saying thanks for getting your reef supplies with us!

i might be in based on the deal. Free shipping is my biggest question.... Wouldn't seem they would be able to do that with the shipments going everywhere.

I pretty sure you still have to pay shipping since everyones stuff is still shipped seperatly. I will call tomorrow and get more details though.

What is the group buy discount? & shipping discount?
We are interested in 75 GPD RO/DI 5 Stage Drinking and Reef Water System

reg price $220 but with Memorial Day Sale price 10% off = 198
shipping = $20.56
Is group discount more than 10%?

sillygoose, Im not sure exactly how much the discount is but I will call as soon as I know that we have enough interest. Its says somewhere between retail and wholesale. Maybe that 10% will be on top of the group buy discount. I will let all know as soon as I know.

I am now a preferred reefer for having participated in a group buy last year. The price I see quoted for the 75g 5 stage is $179.99, including the Memorial Day 10% discount. (Obviously I can't guarantee that BRS will quote you the same price; Aquaph8 can confirm. I post this just to offer some sense of the preferred reefer discount.)

I talked to BRS today. He said the discount depends on the item you are purchasing. The group buy would do nothing for shipping costs and as far as the RODI unit goes, the sale price is better than what the disscount would be there for there would really be no discount on it. I was really disapointed cause it didn't seem like much of a deal at all. I may just go ahead and order my stuff. Let me know what you guys think.
