I've been involved in group buys from BRS before, so I have a few caveats:
You don't get discounts on everything, only some things. You may not save any money at all on things that you want to buy. Like aquaph8 said, if something is on sale, you don't get both the sale price and the discount price. It's one or the other.
Unless you are ordering BRS "house brand" items, their prices on other brands are often more expensive than other sites, even with their group buy discount. Before you jump in thinking you are getting a great deal, see what other sites are selling that same item for. In my experience, it costs less to just buy from somewhere else instead of getting the discount through a group buy. The last time, someone did a tally of all the items that were going to be ordered by the group, and only one or two (out of dozens) were cheaper with BRS's discount than they were normally priced at other sites.
Sorry to be a negative nelly, but if your goal is to save money, shop around. For example, there are very good places to get much cheaper (and better performing) RODI units than BRS. Of course, if your goal is to buy their proprietary products, like the 2 part solution or bulk carbon or GFO, then it's good to get a group buy going if you can.
