BRS ROX and SPS?

I just recently received a quantity of BRS ROX activated carbon. Of course right after I received it, I read a bunch of threads on RC that claimed the addition of the ROX led to STN or other problems. I did read that it's recommended to add the ROX slowly since they can quickly strip the nutrients from the water which the coral reacts badly to.

I'd really appreciate input from other RC members, especially those with first-hand experience.

Thanks in advance RC!

I have been using Rox 08 and haven't noticed any ill effects. But now that you mention it I will do a search to find what you are talking about.

I've been using ROX carbon in a low-flow reactor for over half a year. I started with their recommended amount and change it out every 2 weeks and I have not noticed any problem. In fact, I feel the overall health of the tank has benifited from its use.
Good luck.

I've also been using it in a reactor for quite some time (over a year) without any problems. Just follow the instructions and you should be fine.

Same here..I've been using the Rox8 and GFO in a dual reactor with great results. I even use it on my 75G Tanganyikan Biotope

Hi, I have read the negative posts on Rox 8, but keep in mine, many less experienced people will jump to a conclusion when actually something else is the root cause of the problem. Then they post their findings believing them to be gospel, thats the fun part of forums, from those that have experienced what truly works from those who think they know what works.

The positive notes from the people above should be an excellent indication of Rox 8 working with no problems. i have an SPS only 90 gal and will be using the BRS product. I have used there other products and am extremely pleased with them and their knowledge.
