Bryopsis - Does it grow back from dry/dead rock?

I lost/abandoned my tank due to bryopsis and am looking to start again. I'm trying to find out if this stuff can spring back from the dead and grow from dry/dead rock once added back into a reef environment? I'd hate to dump 70+lbs of rock but If there's any chance it will spring back up I don't want to put the time into a tank to lose it to bryopsis again. Thanks!

There is a new cure for it. Flucanazole don't have to worry about bryopsis again.

Dead rock is prime real estate for any algae, including your favorite.

Aren't you a little young for this hobby?

Well, if you are referring to my profile pic that was my son when I was a bit more active here, about 12 years ago.

I do realize dead rock can grow any algae. But bryprosis isn't just any algae. I just want to make sure it can lay dormant and spring back to life when it's reintroduced to water. I'd like to seed the rock I have here if it can be done.

It sounds like you had a really tough time with the stuff. I feel ya. I like scuzy's idea. I think you can bleach disinfect rock. Use it as base rock.

I would treat with Fluconazole in a tub.

I use the Fluconazole treatment in a 125 gallon mixed reef tank and it did nothing to stop it's growth. Good luck
