BTA acclimation

im in the process of putting living creatures in my 75 gallon tank. so far i just have a few small poylps, some hermits a few snails an emerald crab, 2 false perculas, and a yellow watchman goby. my next step, before my polyps start spreading off the plug is an anemone. ive done my research but my question is, how do i go about placement? should i just place it in a spot i think is good and cut the flow down for a few hours so it can attach? or should i just minimize the flow and drop it in to let it find its own spot?

It sounds like your tank has not been set up very long. If you did your research then you know that you should not have an anemone until the tank is 6+ months old.

If your tank is ready, you cut off all flow and set it where it seems it would be happy. After about 20 minutes turn on the return and any powerheads that aren't near it. After an hour it should be well attached and you can turn all the flow back on. If it looks like it has not attached after one hour, you will need to hold off on the last step until it attaches. Any healthy anemone should be able to hold on to the rockwork within 10 minutes to be honest, but better safe than sorry.

An important point to understand is if the anemone does not like where you put it, it will move. Mine roamed for over a moonth living in different spots for a few days to a few weeks. It now has found a happy spot and has been there for 3 months now and happily it is in the middle of the tank so I can enjoy it. If you want it to live you need to let it find its place, or somehow create the perfect flow where you want it. If you keep trying to move it to where you want it, it is going to stress and die. I am speaking from experience until someone enlightened me.

x2 cut off the powerheads and let it anchor somewhere. then cut them back on once its settled.

9 times out of 10 it will move on its own after a few days to find its sweet spot. but it will do it slowly and carefully (if its healthy) and there is less risk of it getting caught in the open water and then batched in a powerhead.

drip acclimate it also. take your time with that. maybe start with a inexpensive condy anem on your tank since it's rather new (mine is only 4 months cycled I started with condys - they are both doing very well).

Y tank has been setup since september. I had a bad problem with cyno so I didn't do anything with it until that was under control. I was thinking of doing a pink tip but wasn't sure if I wanted more than 1 anemone in my tank. Especially one that could potentially eat my clowns if I'm one of the rare cases where the clowns take to the anemone. But maybe I will try one and see how it does
