BTA Advice

I have tried with anemones i can't keep one to save my life! my tank has been set up for 2years and 6 months. all my levels has been right on the dot.. i have had other people test my water to get the same results that i have..

Thanks all for the responses and no Zoom...you did not offend me. If I didn't expect honest answers, critical or otherwise I wouldn't have asked a question in a public forum.

I am learning a lot quickly about this hobby and yes there is a lot to learn. I read one book on the hobby before I dove in...the basics I guess you can say and thought I would be doing the right thing by going to a reputable dealer that has been in business 20+ years instead of one of the big box stores where the people don't know crap. I am currently reading a couple of more much more in depth reads on the topic.

I guess what I gathered about the BTAs were that yes they were delicate, but also the most hardy of the anoemones. It also seemed like many people having trouble had to do with poor lighting, etc, which I did not spare any expense on.

I didn't learn of this forum or others like it until after the purchase; however I will certainly use it as a reference as I continue to learn more about the hobby.

I agree, the popular consensus is that I should have waited and in hindsight would have. On the positive side, my BTA appears to be doing well...looks, appetite, etc.

From the feedback, I have also learned that you have to be your own advocate for the decisions of what is best for your tank and charges. I will certainly look to the forum for advice in the future.

Thanks again everyone.

Hey all,

It has been awhile, so I thought I would provide an update. My BTA came around and seems to be doing well. Eating well and looking good anyways...if that counts for doing well.

I wish I could say the same for my fish. Ich wipeout a couple of weeks ago. -No I didn't quarantine, but I will next time.

Congrats on the nem!

Sorry about the Ich. Wait awhile before putting anymore fish in there. If I'm not mistaken, you should wait a month. And yes, QT is a great thing. Good luck to you!

You should wait at least a month. If I recall correctly how the Ich cycle runs, it could take up to 6 weeks for all of the parasites to die off.

Glad to hear that the anemone is doing well!

Actually since I revisited this site, your original posting said your tank was 6 weeks old. Bad idea to try to keep a nem this soon.

Patients please!
