BTA Drastically Changed Color

Here is what he looks like the day after I got him (5th of Sept):

Just over a week later his location has not changed
(he has placed his foot under a ledge between two pieces of rock). His color was brown with slight green highlights. Last night that brown color has morphed into a very dark luminescent green with brown accents. In other words, he coloring changed realitively quickly over a one night period, from once exteme to the other. The only thing I am worried about is that he has not come out like he normally does. Acts like he has just been fed. Is that normal for him to change to such a degree in one night? Thanks.

Can we get a picture of your its recent color change? The one you have in the picture is bleached btw. SO it could be accumulating zooxanthellae algae but it could not do that overnight. We need more information. Lighting? Waterflow? Tank size?

i notice the color of mine turns green as it deflates. Reading articles online has shown me that anemones will do this on a regular basis to clean themselves out.

The color of an anemone is more concentrated when it is less inflated. or else some one came to your haouse and switch anemone on you

When your anemone shrinked you were fooled. Its normal for this to happen on a regular basis.

yeah, it was just deflated, I thought the tips where brown not green when I got him. Also, my anemone is not bleached, he is dark brown with green bubble tips. A bleached BTA loses all of its zooxanthellae and looks clear like this:

Well, your first picture DOES look like the bleached example you just posted. It would be good to post a current picture for comparison to the first.

My GBTA came bleached and darkened to a green/brown over a couple of weeks. This is healthy, and I think you've probably had the same thing happen - your anemone was bleached when you got it and is now healthy.
