BTA is splitting and getting too close

Will the BTA harm the clam? If so, How do I move the clam with out harming the foot that is attached to the rock?

wait and see if you have a problem first. my GBTA has split twice and the clones haven't gone near my clam. but if you have to move clam and if you can't move the rock he's attached to ( you should let him attach to a small rock or shell so you can move him easier next time ) you can cut the byssal thread with a sharp knife. you want to do this as far from the shell as possible.
