BTA just introduced. A few questions

Hi folks,

I just introduced a BTA into my tank a few days ago(7/14). Since them my True Percs have taken to it and all looks to be going as planned. Based on the pics below I would like to know:

1) Is the nem too small for the pair of True Percs?

2) The Nem seems to be reaching slightly. I know this typically means not enough light, however the tank is currently under 14K 150W MH with a photo period of 8-9 hours so I suspect this is not the case. Just wanted some opinions on the extension seen in the pics and if there is any cause for concern.

I think the nemmie will tell you if it's too much with the Clowns by retracting. Mine is under 250W MH and stretches to the light also. I think it's because they like to bury (hide) their foot deep in the rock and stretch to the light when they want to but hide when they don't. Your nemmie looks really healthy, color-wise... nice thick 'trunk' ... tentacle look a little short but that could just be acclimating. Couldn't hurt to feed it every few days but otherwise looking good. If he's not happy, he will move so just watch and be patient.

Thanks for the reply. I actually fed it for the first time today(1 krill) and plan to do this weekly through the acclimation period. I know there are a few different philosophies on target feeding and will probably take the more hands-off approach once the nem is fully acclimated.

I personally always target feed ... but only every other day. So far so good and everybody seems happy!

I have no doubt target feeding has its benefits. My concern is effectively managing export of nutrients. I have a 29g( I know, I know... technically too small for a BTA) so I am going to see if I can minimize the opportunities for the import of nutrients into the system.
