I bought what I taught was a 4" BTA from my LFS 2 weeks ago. as it settled into its spot and fully extended it was about 12" to 14"...WOW. I just changed over my lights this past weekend and today my BTA just split this morning. The 2 halves are separated now. What do I do now? I wasn't expecting this to happen so any info is appreciated.

or you can keep it, the mouths will re-form in a few weeks, if you were spot feeding don't try it for now, if you don't spot feed them no worries.

I was feeding it about 2-3 time a week before the split. I have read that I shouldn't feed it for a while. When do I know when I can start feeding them? Some of the info. that I have read says that I should be doing 20% water changes for a few days after the split. Is this true? Do you guys do that and if so, how often and how long do you do water changes?

I wouldn't change anything. Anemones don't particularly like changes in water chemistry so I wouldn't do an extra water change or anything.

Give them a week or two and see if they have reformed their mouths. If so they should be able to eat. If they can't eat they'll drop the food.

That is not true. Some BTAs are heavy splitters and some rarely split. They have been documented to split when apparently unstressed and also when purposefully stressed.
