BTA missing

I placed a beautiful rainbow BTA in my BC29 last night. Made it a nook at the base of my scape to seat itself into. He settled right in and extended! This was at the end of my light cycle. Last i saw it it was still in place under the moonlights.

This morning i wake to find NO BTA!!!!!

I have very porous rock with lots of nooks and crannies. I have read that they will "hide" sometimes but he is deep out of sight wherever he is!

Tank is 9 months old, very stable clean and healthy. Parameters are stable within ideal limits. I waited a few extra months intentionally to ensure by BTA the best chance for success!

It is a beautiful 4-5" rainbow BTA, whoever took him please bring him back!

Otherwise suggestions or comments? Thanks!

i believe i found him..... looking again with a flashlight i found a translucnet "thing" about the size of a nickle under an overhand in almost no light. It is an area of medium flow but again no light.

Leave him alone and let him do his thing? I am amazed and concerned about how small it got in such a short period of time. Was so healthy when i got him and put him in. Checked water again and all is well. Lighting is LED medium intensity. Enough to grow acros at the surface and zoas, riccs on the sand.

any comments/suggestions welcome!

my wife found him up under a ledge in total darkness attached to the roof of the ledge. All i can see are 6 tips but they are plump and the color is good. Curious to see how much carnage he unleashes before settling into his home.

Thanks

he wasn't cheap.... hence the urgency. It would be nice to see him successful as well. Ill give him a few days them im poking him with a sharp stick!

haha, well I wouldn't recommend a sharp stick. If mine hide I leave them alone for a little while (check on them constantly) and then reposition the rock they're on so they're back out in the light. He's new so I'd give him a few weeks.

After a week try feeding it and see how it responds. Small pieces... I actually mash scallops into a chunky paste and mix it with tank water. I use a turkey baster and blow it on "Nemmie Hill" ... I have 4 RBTAs and a new speckled green one.

How's the flow in your tank. I find that my BTAs like some flow but not direct... kind of swirly around them.

the flow in the tank is very random and moderate throughout. I have a small korilia in the back top of the tank aimed at an angle across the tank pointing to the front glass. I also have a Hydor rotating nozzel on a lockline for my return pump. This gives great random flow and keeps things stirred up very well. Actually one of the best purchases i have made for my tank.

Ill be keepin an eye on the little fella. thanks for the input!

He will probably extend fully in 3-4 days, could take as long as a week. My BTA did this when I first added it and I also panicked like a small child :lmao:

well he has started to look for light and is now extending from under the ledge to the back of the tank. He is getting some light and fully plump but in the worst possible location. I am still hoping that he will move again to the front of the tank to have access to more light.

I dont have the option of moving the rock he is on as it is the backbone of my scape and will require a 3/4 tear down to access this rock.

I am tempted to feed him but don't want him to get comfortable. Leave him alone for a few more days and hope he moves?

He needs atleast a month to get settled andadapted to ur tank its good he found a spot to hide and retreat they rest from all the stress is what he needs you mess with him at this time you will have a dead anemone leave him be and do not bother him
