BTA questions

My BTA closes itself of and expels a brown string stuff from time to time, I am assuming it is expelling waste, but would be nice if someone can confirm. Just want to make sure it is not something to be alarmed about.

I know they expel waste however I have neve seen mine do that. Alhtough I never feed mine at all. Are you feeding yours?

Still new to this but I hear the brown string is the Anemone releasing zooxanthellae. Have you fed it anything that is similar to the color of what it's expelling? I hear it happens during acclimation and acclimating to different lights, however if it continues to happen that it can be detremental. Not sure since I personally don't have much experience.

I have fed him some figured food would help his move/make sure he had energy for the added move stress, he is also acclimating to a stronger light I believe than what was in the tank at the LFS. He seems to be starting to re-inflate and closing his mouth. He still has good color. No white stingy stuff came out which I have read would be really bad. I am fairly new to anemone's so needless to say he has me worried. However he is still firmly stuck to his rock. My clown is feeding the lil sucker every extra bit of food it finds. I will keep watching very closely.

It is probably waste. Mine usually do that the day or so after feeding. And yes they do release zooxanthellae and looks the same i think. But the way i tell is whether it is happening every day and its bleaching. I have one anemone that expands and contracts everyday for the last two months and yet is fully colored and hasn't moved an inch. Anemones are not an exact science more of an art. Try not to worry too much if its stuck to its rock and feeding.

Thanks, I think he is ok, scared me though as I have never seen that happen and I had a bad ammonia spike/nitrate spike on sat/sunday been doing daily water changes and things seem to be stable and falling now. He has opened back up mouth is slightly open still but he is actually much darker in coloring now. It took almost 6 hours though...i think he did a massive zooxanthellae expel.
