BTA Questions!!

I got an anemone from FAOIS about a month ago, and in the beginning he stayed compact inside a PVC coupler... About 2 weeks ago my clowns started hosting and now will not leave it... They eat, sleep and @#$% inside the anemone...

I have a few questions I need answered... First off just recently one of my clow2ns kicked the other one out, that clown hovers around the BTA but rarely enters it... It mostly stays underneath the rim and brushes along the edge.. Whats the deal?

I also noticed that now the anemone is stretching upwards and his tentacles have become long and thin... At night he curls back up and becomes for the one clown while the other one sleeps inside the coupler under the anemone...

Does all this sound like normal behavior?

Ill try and get a pic tomorrow if anyone needs it...

The clowns are probably establishing a heirarchy. The one dominating the BTA is probably the female and eventually she should accept the other clown as her male counterpart and allow him into the anemone on a regular basis. The females are always a little pushy though. As long as hes not dead, hes probably going to be ok. Id take a wait-and-see attitude, but it sounds just about right to me.

Thanks CMJ, hopefully she accepts him, they never leave each others side execpt when she is in the anemone... I realized tonight how protective they are of their anemone... I stuck my hand in the tank to fix a fallen frag and they attacked my hand... After the fourth or fifth bite they kinda backed off but now whenever my hand goes in they attack it...

thats why i personally hate clowns i have a flame that bites me if i try to do anything to the tank

Regardless if they bite me or not I love clowns. I especially love watching them host in there anemone. I have to do some fragging later today so well see how that goes.

I have a maroon clown and recently took out the bta it had hosted for over a year. The anenome just got to big so now I am looking to get a new smaller one. Lets just say that the clown wasnt very happy. When I tried to put a coral in the spot where the anenome used to be, he attacked it and actually broke a piece off. He had calmed down since then but still trys to bite me when I put my hands in the tank.
