BTA recently split, now problems: Need advice

Well, my GBTA split last week and the color has really looked pretty good in them. The problem I'm having is, it originally when it was one, was attached between two rocks. It was actually attached to both of them. It would fan out to be about 10". Now it split and one half is attached to the rock on the right and one half is attached to the rock on the left and the problem is that they've been facing eachother and pretty much smothering eachother. I kept hoping one would move away but they just stayed there. Now one of them is moving backwards and getting more crammed between rocks. It's getting very little light and not much flow in this spot now. I don't know what to do. Don't know if it would be best to take action or just leave them be. Here's some pics:

Here's right after the split, they're facing eachother:

Here's where the one that was in the front, as of last night has moved further back into the dark area and is still crammed:

And here's how much rock is on top of these rocks (in other words, not easy to move):

Thanks for any help, ideas, or even opinions on why they're doing this. Why won't they move away?

I don't understand why it would move out of the light and out of the flow. If it dies in there behind the other one under all this rock, it's going to be about impossible to get it out.

Before it split, it used to fill up that whole area that's clear around it.

my advice let them move when they want. i had a bta that split and when it decided to move one went to the other side of the tank and the other stayed where it had originally split. i think in time they will move where they want.

I've seen a lot of pictures where the splits didn't move far away from each other at all, and eventually after a couple more splits formed a beautiful waving carpet made out of many different nems. The one in the back might just be hiding out until it finished healing and is ready to present itself to the world again. Give it time, it'll do what's best for itself naturally.
