Yesterday I came home to a disaster in my tank. Hopefully my experience can help someone else as sometimes it is the small things that create disasters.
I was attempting to stall some algae growth due to some automatic feeder overfeeding by reducing my light cycle. My plan was to only run my blue plus and moonlights for a couple of days. In trying to do some in tank cleanup I also inadvertently moved one rock in the back of my tank so that it rested almost directly against the back wall of my tank. I didn't even think about agitating my BTA.
Well, the reduced lights caused my BTA to move overnight. The BTA found the rock up against the glass and went up the glass across the back and into a powerhead. I didn't find it until the afternoon and the biggest piece left was no bigger than a thumbnail. I spent all last night pulling BTA chunks out of my tank while my clowns searched for their buddy. In hindsight, I would rather have dealt with the algae.
