BTA split after 1 day in tank

I just introduced a BTA to my 12 gallon aquapod, and did a water change of about 10% within 12 hours with the lights out. During the change, the BTA closed up and started to split. It's still working on it right now, but is this normal for it to happen this fast?

It's not uncommon, they tend to split due to stress. It's probably just the stress of it being moved from one tank to another.
