BTA split?

So I bought a new bta two weeks ago. It started to act like it was dying, not attaching' not eating, turning inside out, etc.., it has just now started to eat and his tentacles are getting fuller and color is coming back. I noticed a mini version of him. About 1/ 20th the size. I thought it was algae on the rocks, but now I see it might be a bta. Do they randomly split or multiply or what not?

Splitting is how they multiply and spread. My solitary rose bubble from 8 years ago has now produced 7 or 8 new roses, some are small, some are the size of my hand. Rare to actually see the split as it seems to be a slow process and the anemone will assume different shapes. Sometimes the clone moves away, sometimes not. I have a large rock covered with 6 roses. Have some green BTA's also that randomly split, then disappear for awhile.
