BTA Splitting

Just wondering how often your Anemones split? I've had mine for about 2 years and splits about every six months. Just recently it split not once but three time within 10 days. Why would this have happened? What makes an anemone split?

We have theorys of why they split. Its said that they split the most when stressed. We also think that they might split due to good health. Most of the time in captivity they split due to stress.

I don't think he splits because of stress. I have a pair of clowns hosting to it and he's been on the same rock since day one. We have moved together and never split during the move. He eats good and I don't think it's stress.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Maybe it was damaged. Sometimes when they are damaged they will split to save themselves. Could it have been ripped apart by something? If it is very healthy, then you're very lucky! Maybe it is just so happy it could die... or split 3 times! :D

I think they split because they are healthy and get to big. I have one which has grown to a 12-15 inch head. That's a big RBTA so for no given reason it split so in some respects thats a good thing. Makes for a good sale.

There are 2 strains of RBTA's.Ones that get larger and split larger, and others thats stay smaller and split smaller.I currently have both and will say that they split more while stressed!

mine have split from stress, i moved him to a different spot in the tank, and then did a big water change..split few days later

I have the strain that get big... and never split! :)
I've seen 18" RBTA that don't split. I've never stressed my anemones, so I've never had a split! :D
