BTA staying at very top of tank, just below water line

I have had this RBTA for almost two years. It started out the size of a 50 cent piece and now the disk is easily 10". The BTA had been attached to the same rock for the last two years and even stayed attached through multiple tank moves. About a month ago the BTA left the rock and has been anchored down in the top corner of the tank at the water line for the last month. When I do water changes it gets exposed to air but still doesn't move. What is going on? Has anyone else had a BTA live on the glass?

I did for a time but then he ended up disappearing altogether. Check your water quality. I hope I'm wrong... Good luck.

I have one doing the same thing right now, actually it's spent almost two weeks up on the glass. Except for Nitrates around 20, everything tests fine.

My BTA seems fine, I haven't seen any issues. I'm nervous to rearrange corals in fear that he will move back down to the rocks.

Well, it's been three months and my RBTA is still at the top of the water line, at the corner of the overflow and looks to be doing very well. I even changed out two Kessils for a four bulb T5 fixture a month ago and the nem still didn't move.

It moved up there when I was still running the Kessil A350W's, it was about 6 inches from the light and I was running the Blue channels at 100%, White 25%. I switched out the Kessil's for a 4 bulb T5 fixture and it stayed in the same place. It's starting to seem like it really likes that spot. It tucks it's foot into the corner created by the center overflow and the glass.

My RBTA has settled directly between the two returns in my Nuvo 20 just below the water line too --- so odd. Wonder what the cause is - my other BTA in there is on some rock on the sand bed.

You can make him move on his own by pointing your powerheads at him if your that bothered by it. That would be the least stressful approach imo

It doesn't bother me, just seems strange. I don't see a lot of them on the glass have always read they like their foot in a rock crevice.
