bta time line

Hey my tank has been up since oct. My water par. stay at amm. 0 , trites 0 , trates around 5 . I have an awsome torch that has new polyps growing out of the one dead polyp it had. My question is how long should I wait before trying a bta. My lighting is 260 watt pc . I know that halides would be better but my lfa people and several people on here keep them with same amount so I am thinking on trying a bta at some point . I just didn't want to try to soon. I also have correline growing on my rocks , back glass of tank , powerheads, bubble box on skimmer , etc. don't know if that matters but I would think it is a sign of a healthy tank , right ?

If you've read up on their care and quirks, are comfortable and confident in your ability to care for them properly whilst accepting that there's a very real possibility that one day, while you're at work, it will take a walk and possibly kill many, many, corals, I'd say tank and aquarist are ready to try one out.

Thats saying it . LOL , no really I appreciate that you took the time to explain it in that manner. I enjoy some corals but not all. I love my torch and I like some zoos and a few mushrooms. Some sps but not a lot . I am fairly confident as far as my ability , well I should say my ethics in attempting , but putting it in that manner will def. make ke consider all sides again to make sure I want what I want. Thanks .
Danny

By the way don't think because I said I like a few sps means I am going to put one in my tank under pc lights. I am sure that some would do good maybe not thrive but good but I have no desire at this time to do anything that I feel would not be best for my tank or me. Thanks again!!

Sounds like you should be fine then. The torch is generally considered the least hearty of the Euphyllia species; if you can keep one of those going then a BTA should be doable, too.

I'm not one of those big adherents of the "six month rule" for 'nems, I imagine you'll probably be fine with your tank running the way it is.

You might want to try to get those nitrates down to 0, though...just to be sure to provide the anemone with the best possible living environment. Five ppm is pretty good, but zero is better :)

Also try to to find a bta clone from a hobbyist--they adjust much better to the shifts in a newly established tank.
