Could Phoslock be making my BTA sick? It is all droopy and has been that way for about 3 days. I just tested my water and everything is within spec except my ca which is a little high. My lighting is 260w/48000k(4 compacts) and 260w of actinic(4 compact)Looks ad though the BTA is loosing his color. Any suggestions as to what might be happening?

I have never used Phoslock, so can't comment.

But, something is bothering it. What are the actually numbers behind your water tests. Also include the temp and salinity.

How long have you had the BTA?

And is the LTA in your sig still white? ( White being bleached )

Lta is a gonner( Need to update my sig) ca is 650, ph 8.0. mag 1000, nits 10, kh 9, phos 0. sal 1.023 temp 78. I have had the BTA since 3/17/08. Never seems to be happy where he is. Always on the move.

Your water is a bit out of whack.

Ca should be b/t 400 and 450
pH is fine,
Mag, b/t 1200 and 1500
Salinity should be a tiny bit higher, I prefer 1.026.

How much flow do you have in the tank?

If it is moving that much, something isn't making it happy.

I have powerheads around the parameter of the tank. Maybe it is the flow. I will turn it down a bit and see what happens. Going to do a 20% wc this weekend. Hopefully that will help as well.Thanks for all your help.

Are you dosing anything? Wondering why your Ca is so high.

Maybe the phospholock is stripping the water to such an extent that the anemones zooanthellae are dieing of starvation??Why were you running it in the first place? My anemone tanks always have nitrates.... and probably phosphates(never tested)..... no problem yet.

Toddrtrex- I am dosing w/mag 2x's a week. My ca has always been high have'nt dosed for that in awhile.
E.J. Coral- I was using the Phoslock because I had alot of algea prob. Red and GH. I took out the phos bag yesterday.
I was thinking that maybe it could be the salt as well because I used Seachem Reef Salt instead of IO which I normally use. What do you guys think? Can the nem be saved?
