Bta

I have a BTA that shrinks down to barely anything but the foot every few days. I am feeding it krill about three times a week, sometimes twice. The water quality is fine. I am wondering if this is natural? A regular occurrence for others on reef central? Any help is much appreciated.

It is a host to a maroon clown.

Yeah mine used to do that when i fed 3-4 times a week. I cut back to once a week and it deflates less often. The reason it does this is to expel waste, or too take in new water.

same here, mine does that like every couple of days, and as stated they do it to expel waste and take in new water IMO.

here is a good link on this:

How big is the BTA, and how big is the maroon?

But, I also would count down on the feedings, mine ( Haddonis ) are lucky to be fed twice a month.
