I have bubble algae starting to grow, not bad but want to catch it early. I think it came in on some live rock I got about 6 months ago. Just wanted to see if anyone has a trick to getting rid of it, fish/inverts/ect... Looks like I have the type called Valonia aegagropila. I read some stuff on this site:

I have emerald crabs already and tryed vacuuming this stuff.
Any help or idea would be great.
Thanx,
Andrew

Did you really do that Ed?? I have always read that if you pop them, you spread the spores throughout your tank and cause a bloom.

Wow! That's really amazing that nothing came back.

Yeah just poped them. My brother in law the Genetic Engineering Professor at Ohio State told be to do it. It worked great. never had another problem.

i keep like 3 emmerald crabs and they do a great job , sometimes i pop them by accident and nothing happen either
