What is the best way to rid my tank of bubble algae? I'm not a big fan of Emeralds, butif they work I'll learn to like them. Is there anything else that eats bubble algae?
The smaller emeralds are very good for buuble aglae removal.
I introduced some LR (w/ mushrooms) into my aquarium that was covered in bubble aglae. The emeralds in my tank made quick work of it and 3 months later there isn't a trace in my tank.
They have to be smaller and hungry. Meaning if your tank is chock full of algae they won't seek out only the bubble.
My 75g was covered with bubble algae so bad I almost tore my tank down. I considered cooking the live rock but I didn't want to wait 3 months for that so I took sections of my rock out and manually removed it. I just finished it today and let me tell you, I really hate bubble algae! I originally had 7 emeralds but it seems as if they didn't touch it or maybe there was too much for them to eradicate. My method of removal was to do five gallon water changes and with the waste water I would put some of the rock into and manually remove with my hands what I could. I then used a needle nose pliers to remove the hard to get spots. Probably not what you want to hear but this was my last resort. Good luck.
