Hi, i'm just wondering if my false perc will host a bubble anemone. I'm new to the salt water aquarium and not sure if this is true. Friend told me that i would have to get a true perc. whats the difference?

Thanks

No clown will host an anemone. They anemone does the hosting. Anyway back on topic, sure there is a chance your Ocellaris clown will take shelter in a bubble tip. Ive seen plenty of perculas and ocellaris clowns in BTAs.

A. ocellaris and A. percula look similar and have similar temperments; however, the two are different species and their natural range does not overlap geographically. Perculas (A. percula) tends to have broader black outlines than ocellaris (false percs) and the number of rays on the dorsal fin is different by one between the species, so I've read. Ocellaris get slightly larger and are generally hardier.

As far as taking to your BTA, I expect that your ocellaris will make its way there in time.

my false percs have been with my bubble tip for 6 months and haven't gone into the bubble tip yet. At night they like to hang out next to the overflow box, which is like 6" from the anemone too.
