bubble blaster pump on coralife SS200

I wanted to replace the stock pump that the coralife SS200 comes with. I was thinking maybe the HY2000. Is that too much for this skimmer? Any suggestions on which pump would go best for this skimmer? Thanks.

I would think that the 2000 might be a little bit. I would look at doing the 1000 instead, as it's still going to be a substantial upgrade over what you have, and is less likely to overflow.

what about the Reef Octopus Turbine Needlewheel Pump 3000? Is that too much for this skimmer? The bubble blaster pump is a bit pricey so if the RO 3000 will work, I will just go with that. Thanks.

I think the 2000 would be the better bet, so it doesn't overpower the body. Keep in mind you're trying to balance out the water / air draw versus body and neck size. More is not always better, and less is actually better at reducing turbulence, to a certain extent.

okay thanks Jeremy. I am looking online and the octopus 2000 doesn't come with a venturi. Its just the needle wheel pump. The venturi is being sold separately so would I need that also?

You would most likely have to get that direct from Coralvue, as I do not know of anyone who offers that for sale. Another option to this would be to run the Sicce 2500, which in my opinion is probably the best bet between pricing and performance compared to the other two pumps.
