Got this bubble coral from LFS 6 days later still won't fully open just little baby bubbles. Tested water my calcium is crazy high can that be why? All other corals are open

Salinity 1.025
Ph 8.0-8.5
Ammonia .6
Nitrite .3
Cal 600! ( just did water change too)

Advice? Only been reefing for not even a month I need some help

Thanks

Honestly I have one that has been around for years I got from fellow reefer and I bought another one and it died in a week. I think some are hardier than other. I'm no expert but I doubt that the calcium is the issue but I could certainly be wrong

Eh I hope not i think I spent like 70 bucks on him, he's got medium flow and not too much light it seems like that's best from reading around

600!!??
Either your test kit is bad..maybe tested incorrectly?
What is your Alk. And Mag. At?
Bubbles are pretty sensitive to water parameters...as most corals are.

I am going to retest the calcium maybe I did something wrong. I need to get test kit for ALK and MAG. This kit did not include that

They typically do best in medium to low flow, and low light. I agree the Ca test numbers are likely wrong. The ammonia could be a concern. In light of the nitrite reading, seems the tank is not fully cycled yet. How long has it been set up?

Looks like you tank is not cycled. You should have no ammo or nitrite. Do a water change and use some Prime based on total tank volume.

Do you use NSW or ASW?

Sometimes Ca in NSW is that high. Mine is.

As for actual problems, yeah I reckon it is just that your tank hasn't gone through the initial cycle.
