I dont think you made a bad decision, its a different skimmer. The Deluxe is more adjustable, and has a larger reaction chamber than the minis, also Deluxe model has big block motor with anti lime by pass which is a benefit as well. Air input is an important factor but its not everything.
Hope this helps.

thanks!!! for a while there I thought that I made a big mistake. I was thinking/seeing that from what everyone is saying the sm200 or the mini200 was outperforming the d200, but from what I've seen they kinda work for different type of set ups. thanks again ksed.

Would somebody mind explaining exactly how the anti lime bypass works?

Never had given it much thought before. Last week I did a complete cleaning of my BK 250 SM and ran the pump in vinegar for a few hours. Looks like anti lime bypass just brings water into the motor housing? what exactly does it do in there thats beneficial?

Brings water back to motor housing to keep it cool which helps in minimizing calcium formation.

did you get an answer yet - I would like to know as well - here in the US what is the documented air pull of a 180 and 200 mini?

I would LOVE to hear from Klaus or anyone at Royal/Proline about these numbers, as this is a skimmer I'm considering to get.

Thanks!

Hi Nick, nope, no answer yet :(

General question to all of you:

I currently have a Deltec APF600 on my system witch is about 140g. I'm planning to remove my DSB but want to make sure that I have the best skimmer that I can fit in my sump.

My sump is a standard 55 g tank, what BK skimmer would you recommend?

well, I have a d200 and it barely fits in a 75g (width wise, 20"). I'm no expert, but I'm guessing if you want in sump, you'll have to get the bk minis. with a 120g tank, you'll probably be fine with the smallest bk mini.

has anyone bought a BK skimmer via scott at aquariumspecialty.com? i did. and i've had trouble getting in touch with him by email. if anyone could PM me his email account, i'd appreciate it! i guess my mails must be getting caught in his spam filter.

Tony,

Why not give him a ring as well.

yeah, the phone is definitely the way to go with him. he's not responding to my mails and i purchased over $10,000 worth of stuff from him recently.

He's a little slow via email, I like using the phone best with him, he sometimes is great with email, I guess it depends on his schedule maybe?

I buy all of my high end stuff from him, he seems to sell all the good stuff :)

bubble king mini 200 finally arrived! yay

I am in the process of a design build. The tank I have decided upon is a 500 gallon tank with a mixed reef predominately SPS. What all do you think would be the right skimmer for me? I like quite a few fish so I am sure it will have some bioload to it. Thoughts?

I just got my BK mini 200. Is this thing really that sensitive? I feed it drops for hours. You touch the water it drops for hours. What's the deal? The sump has an extremely stable water level. It's about 10in I know it's supposed to be around 9in. Will 9in. of water make that much of a difference? I bought this used and the old owner complained about the same issues. I figured I could get it to skim better because he said his sump was not stable. He went back to his Euro-Reef 135. He ran it for 3 mounts and I've been running it for 3 days. Should I give it a break and let it go or do something different? I haven't seen much in the cup just light water may be 1 ml. of skimmate at best in 3 days. So far not too impressed.
