Bubble magus BM180cs overkill for 75g system??

Hey guys! I currently have a 55 gallon aquarium with a 10 gallon sump. I only have softies and LPS, but will soon maybe get into SPS. The bio-load is pretty low. Right now all I have is a watchmen goby, But soon I will probably add a pair of clowns. It currently has a Berlin x2 turbo skimmer, but I don't like it to much. Would the bubble magus BM180cs be overkill? and would it be much of an upgrade from what I have now? Any input would be appreciated. I'm not trying to be lazy, but would just really like to know from some of you guys on here that are experienced and have tried it before!! Thanks!

Side not - The reason I want the skimmer is because I found a good deal on one.

Well I heard people running NAC7 on a 120 gallon tank so that is why I inferred that. Neri likes his I am not a fan of over skimming just get a dirty neck and never fill the cup with skimmate. Good luck with your purchase

I agree I wouldn't want to over skim it. It needs to be able to get a foam. The guy said it has a aquabee pump. I don't know if he really knows what he has haha

JT, the BM180cs in fact has an Aquabee 2000/1 pump, it pumps about 500lph of Air.... really quiet and smooth running skimmer. Not much bigger than the NAC7, I have a brand new NAC7(well got wet and ran for 5days) that i ran in my system(about 75G) with great results, and the 180CS is also doing a good job. They both pull about the same lph of air, so really at this point you are paying for the Atman(NAC7), or Aquabee(180cs). I believe the 180cs is maybe an inch taller, and has a bigger colleciton cup, In my case i am going a bit bigger in the next few weeks so it made a ton of sense for me to get the 180cs plus i got a great deal on it myself. But now im stuck with a nac7 lol, guess i can keep it as a back up.

Hope that info helps.

Thanks so much! I think after hearing what you said, I'll probably get it now!

Welcome, and if you are going to be running ULNS with some Bio-Pellets this thing will collect some real dark nasty goo! my wife hates me every time i have to clean the cup ;).

I have a aqua bee pump for my H&S skimmer, Aquabee pumps are susceptible to calcium build up. So it will need regular vinegar baths. Good luck, nice skimmer
