Bubble Magus skimmer

I'm looking at adding a skimmer to my tank. It's a 55g and I'll be adding a sump, mostly for the skimmer.

Was looking at purchasing options and found the Bubble Magus skimmers at BRS and also on Ebay.

So, my question is that the Bubble Magus BM-NAC3.5 on BRS is $179 + $12.95for the mailman to bring it to my office. The Ebay version is $85 + $45 shipping because it's coming from China.

The only thing I see that is different is the pump. The Ebay version says that you can't use their pump in the US because of the voltage it's wired to run. But can't you just replace the pump on those things? Is it as simple as replacing the pump attached to it with a maxijet or something similar?

I'm new to the skimmer world and just looking for answers. Feel free to tell me I'm not thinking straight and just pop the extra $62 for the US version.

Well that skimmer runs the ATMAN ph1100 stock and cost $45 plus shipping so your going to pretty much break even and have to go threw the hassle of two orders and waiting a couple weeks for the skimmer to show up...

I vote BRS all the way.. unless of course you have a suitable pump or just can find a good used one for cheap.. and no you can't use a maxi-jet because these type pumps have pinwheels that create the bubbles.

So Cal Tropical is a good source for Bubble Magus parts.
