Bubble Tip Anemone Questions

OK I should probably know the answer to this but I cant find it anywhere.

I know that these things are either male or female from what I have read.

I know they will split by binary fission.

So here goes, if a male anemone splits will it form 2 males or is there a chance one of the daughter anemones could be female.

Is the reverse true, if a female splits will it form 2 females or could one of the daughter anemones be male.

splitting produces two genetically identical individuals. So, if the original was a male, both clones will be male.

I really don't believe there are male/female anemones... seems pointless if you can just split lol. (Don't know this for a fact thought)

I will refer you to the top of the forum under Anemone FAQ.

It clearly states in there that anemones are either male or female. That being the case I would believe mine is female as it popped out some egg looking things during acclimation.

There are males and females. Thats why you get the threads every so often that pop up on this forum saying, "my anemone just released all this smoke into my tank, what is this." Thats a male anemone releasing sperm.

Yeah I got that part, and what makes them do that is still a mystery. Right now the anemone is cruising the tank and I have a nightlight on so the clowns don't mess with it by accident.

I also think I am getting addicted, each time I add something I think hey this would look great in there.

There is no cure for a clownfish anemone addiction is there?
