Bubble tip anemone

So it is normal that they close up and pull into rocks where there's no light and have there mouths gaping with there stomaches hanging out. I thought that there mouth should never be gaping and they shouldn't be closed up for extended periods of time.
 
I'll see if I can remember to take some pictures tomorrow of my two BTA's. They will completely deflate to a pile of nothing at least once a day. They both stay put where they are, but this was after a long time of moving all over the place. Your anemones need to acclimate to your lights and until they do you will see all kinds of odd behavior. I'm glad you haven't seen it take a dump yet. :lmao:
 
Theyve been closed for about a week and only open slightly at night and never open during the day. There not just closing for a couple hours anymore they never open and have gapping mouths and one has its stomach sticking out. Also is it normal for a maroon clown to just pick up the anemone and swim around with him in his mouth. The one is now slightly bleached because it hasn't been down in the rocks where there's less light because of the clown.
 
Well the smaller one seemed to melt away and today I can't find it. It was dropping with its body just hanging from its foot and today I come home and it's missing so I think it's gone. Hopefully I can save the other one but it still isn't inflating at all and its mouth is still gaping.
 
if it indeed melted you should do a heavy water change. dk will know more than me but plenty of people have had their tanks nuked by dead anenomes
 
Well after being weeks of not seeing it it re apeared but is in bad shape could I put it in my 5.5 with a 10" finnex refugium light. The light was used on my 20 in the breeder box to grow hair algae and other algeas. Would it be able to sustain the men till it gets better.
 
I think if you were going to use that light you should either diffuse it with a screen or put it high up for a while till the anemone gets better then slowly make it more intense by either moving it closer to the tank or removing the screen.
 
Remember your anemone was in complete darkness for over 2 weeks and is probably really bleached. If it survives it will probably need a transplant.
