Bubble tip dying

Hey all so I bought a BTA on Sunday and it seemed to be ok up until last night. The first night he went behind a rock and stayed there the whole time. My OC never went near him not any other fish. I come home from work today and this is how he looks. I'm assuming he didn't acclimate well. Any ideas. Its in a 75g with 40b sump. All the parameters are good.

So from my research. It is just defecating. I wonder how many others thought the same thing lol.

Hard to say but not nessecarily in bad shape. The mouth is a little gapping open but sometimes btas do that. Just wait a little to see if he gets back to normal. If he is firmly attached then should not be worried. What are your tank setup and water parameters?

Well today he looks a lot better, he did move back under the rock where it's shaded but his tips look better and his mouth seems to have closed. I will try giving him some food later today to make sure he gets something.

My parameters checked out
Ammonia, nitrate: undetectable
Nitrite: .05
PH: 8.2
SG: 1.026
Temp: 79F

Well he did not make it. I rotated the rocks a bunch of times to get him some light, I tried directly feeding him but would never take it. After rotating the rocks, he seemed to perk up a bit but would always end up under a rock again. Still not sure what the issue was. I assume he just didn't like my lighting. I did decrease the whites today but must have been too late. Thanks all, I will try again after some time has passed and whatever it didn't like about my system has passed.

How long have you had your tank set up? I hope you meant nitrate, because if your tank has nitrite then it must be relatively new and not ready for this type of livestock.

Just a couple suggestions for the next time: Don't move the rocks around for it. Anemones find the spot they want to be in. And don't feed it. You always can but anemones get food from photosynthesis. yes they can eat meatier foods but it's not a necessity.

My tank is newer. 3 months. This anenome was on sale at my LFS so that's why got it. I did mean nitrates. I read conflicting info about feeding so I won't try to feed it anymore and leave it as is.

I got home from work and he has reattached to the rocks. Middle of the day my wife sent me a pic with it upside down on the substrate from where it fell. I get home and he is reattached and openish.

Yep, just leave it alone.

3 months is pretty early for an anemone, so just let it be and hope for the best. Feeding isn't always bad, but I never feed an anemone I feel is sick or injured because it takes too much of their energy to digest.

Getting reattached is a nice sign. Don't bother it anymore. Also if you have aggressive animals such as cleaner shrimp (can be very aggressive towards btas). You can separate them from the anemone for now. Good luck.
