bubble tip getting big

My bubble tip anemone is getting pretty big in my 125g mixed reef. To the left is some xenia, devils hand leather, and birds nest. to the right is some frogspawn, acropora, montipora, and polyps.

Is there a way to trim it or something before its starts stinging whats around it?
Its a bout 6" or 7" big

Changing the current such as putting more flow on it will work but it may just get up and walk somewhere you really don't want it.

If it's happy it will get bigger than that! the only way to make it smaller is to cut it in half

I personally don't believe in fragging anemones so I would vote no. I honestly would turn the jets on him if its position were that big of a deal. lets it move to somewhere else and hope it finds one away from a lot of other corals..

Maybe you should sell it? The whole purpose is to keep it happy which will in turn make him grow larger. If you don't want to devote the space or are worried it will walk maybe try a different species that enjoys the sand bed instead?

I just dont like cutting them apart its a personal preference based on my opinion.

I have 3 H.Magnifica anemones, and I control their size by food. I've had one for 9 years, one for 4.5 years, and one for a year. All are about the same size and I can determine their size by food control.

If they are not bleached and there is adequate lighting over the tank, it will get all of the nourishment it needs from the zooxanthellae inside it.

I find it odd that you got an anemone and upset that its doing well so you plan on injuring it to reduce the size and then stop feeding it to keep small... why dont you get rid of it and buy a mini carpet or something if you dont want your anemone to thrive.

It's still small. I had a green one that was over a foot. My clarkii loved it.
To me the main purpose of having an anemone is as a home for my anemone fish (or anemone crabs and shrimps).

Do you have anemone fish? If not, why do you have it? I would then rather give it to someone else than cutting it and risking to kill it.

I would frag it personally. There are also some BTA types that only grow to a 10cm diameter so you could keep an eye out.

No, this is not what I said to do. I said to stop feeding it.
If you cut it, you WILL NEED to feed it in order for it to survive. Splitting or fragging anemones is very stressful on them and uses a significant amount of energy & metabolic resources to recover from the injury & heal up.

Either stop feeding it, or do yourself and it a favor and get rid of it.

My BTA's get whatever food they can catch when I feed my fish, but I don't feed them per se. I've been keeping them for 4 years and I have 12 BTAs that orginated from 2 individuals. I have propagated them a few times now and had no losses.
