Bubble Tip Lighting

Is anyone familiar with a study of lighting color and/or intensity on a BTA? Or any nems for that matter? Looking for references on lighting for adding a BTA prop tank into my system.

Thanks,

Jeff

I keep mine under a 6-bulb T-5 fixture with Geissemann bulbs in a 75gl. The BTA's I had did fine. Had a Mag and that did great. Now my Sebae, after some initial hiding, is doing great.

I have a GBTA that is now 2 GBTAs. I had it under a phoenix 14k 150 MH and it was very green and nicely bubbled. That fixture blew out a MH ballast and I replaced it with a 4x54 T5. Now they bubble less often, and the color is very washed out. It seems 4 T5s are enough to keep them alive, but not enough for them to really blossom. I am adding some LED supplementation soon, in hopes of recapturing their former glory. I know you asked for studies, but I hope some personal experiences will help as well.

It all helps. I have BTA's in T5 doing fine, also one under a PC that does well. I may have to do some testing to see what works best, thanks.

Jeff, I'm using T-5's in my 40B 3 39W and they are thriving. Are you wanting to know about bulb selection?
