I don't normally post here, preferring to collect my knowledge passively by lurking and reading as much as possible. I wasn't able to find the answers that I was looking for though, so I thought I would post.

I just Picked up this new bubble tip last week and has been sitting in a basket since. About two days ago I noticed white mucus coming from the tips of a few tentacles, at first I thought it had grabbed a few mysis during feeding.

Since then its contiued to get worse. I replaced the carbon last night(passively in a bag), and am doing a water change now. I normally change 10% every friday. Tank age 6+ months, w/ 4 other bubble tips doing just fine + 1 Malu doing amazing(Malu was in a basket next to this bubble tip)

Parameters are as follows:

DKH: 9 (steady)
PH: 8.2-8.4
NO3: 0- 2 pppm (Salifert)
PO4: 0 -.003 ppm (Salifert)

Only other post I found was this from 2009:

Here is the bubble tip this evening...Its covering more of the anemone, but it didn't come from the mouth.

The picture does not look good. If it is mucus then I would blow it off and remove it from the anemone. If it is the anemones tissue breaking down and it can not be removed then I don't know any good answer.

Mucus was probably the wrong word for whatever was coming out of the tentacles. I tried to gently blow it off with my turkey baster but it didn't budge. I'm happy to report whatever it was, the anemone worked it out on its own. The picture above was probably at its worse and it recovered over the next few days.

Is the anemone disintegrating? If not I'm honestly not sure but it sounds like an infection of some sort. Maybe Minh or someone else has experienced something similar and can touch base on what's going on.

My suggestion is if it looks like its doing bad, treat it if you can. Follow the anemone treatment sticky thread at the top of this forum for help if this would be your first time.

It recovered on its own, so I didn't pull it to treat. I just made sure my water quality was solid and let it do its thing.
