Bubble tip

I just recently got a Matalic green and red bubbel tip Anemone and I placed it close to the top of the rocks. Well I an running XM 10K bulbs in Luminark A3 minni reflectors. Is that OK?

Assuming the anemone will be a reasonable distance from the light and the halides aren't just dim 70w, then that should work under any circumstances.

The tank is a 180 gal reef, and he seems to have decided he liked it better under a rock ledge at the bottom of the tank, he peeks his head out in the daytime when the lights are on. I didn't know they could strech that far. Any how there are three XM 10K metal halide bulbs in luminark a3 minni reflectors haven't got my atenics figured out just yet thinking about selling or trading my 4 Power Compacts and getting or trading for a ice cap 660 ballest and two sets of vho sockets and two 6" bulbs. be much easier to install not much room in there LOL. What do you think?

Most likely they will come out more and move a little once they are used to the light. They probably came from a tank with less light that you are giving them.

He will strech all the way out from under the rock about 7 1/2 to 8' and open all the way up but his tenticals don't have the bubbles like they did when he was up at the top closer to the lights???

no one really knows what makes BTAs bubble seems that small changes in the environment can cause them to change.

I've got a metallic green BTA and I love it. Its tentacles have those distinct bubbles only early in the morning before and right after the lights come on. For most of the day though, the bubbles slightly deflate and the tentacles look pretty straight. Maybe it has something to do with light.

Well I had to move him back toward the light the other day as he wouldn't even open up after I did that he opened back up looked just like he did before and stayed there for two days and moved back down again still looking ok though I will keep you posted on his progress. All parameters are ok. Thanks for the advice.

Also got my new sump and Modified ASM G-3 recerk skimmer installed yesterday I had to shorten the skimmer body by about two inches to get it to fit under my stand. hasen't seemed to have affected it to drastically though I will try and post pictures soon. Thanks

I wouldnt move a BTA from its chosen place. I would think they know what they like and need for the most part.

If it returned to the same place I would leave it. A moving anemone is an unhappy anemone. Next time it could move somewhere else and sting other corals.

It hasn't moved from where I placed it. Seems to be doing OK I'll try and post pictures soom Thanks for your help. Regards Wes

Yup just leave it be it will find it's own home;)

Dude you gotta ditch the background on your tank it takes away from what you've got growing :D
