my filtration will be a tunze Nano DOC skimmer, 20 pounds live rock, HOB refugium, and 2 gallon water changes weekly. I'll wait 6 months for a mature tank though.
Good to see that you are waiting. The only thing I can see that might be a problem is the evaporation. It will make your salinity fluctuate. If you can find a way to top off constantly during the day, it will be better for the anemone, and also help with heat issues.
doesnt matter about room, i have two choices, reef tank, or anemone tank, anemone tank is cheaper and i like anemones more than corals. So as long as it can fit 2 O. clowns, 20 pounds live rock, and a bubble tip anemone, im good to go.
I believe you have the correct mindset (most don't). As long as you stay consistent with your husbandry of your anemone, you shoud be fine. Just keep in mind that you will probably have to upgrade if your BTA keeps splitting.
I had my BTA in a 20 for 2 years, and yes it can be done...that being said, here is the BIG problem you could run into...if the BTA spawns, and they don't give any warning when and if they do, you are in big trouble unless you do almost a 95% water change because the gametes break down so quick in the water that they can deprive the tank of O2 and crash the tank...not a problem in a larger tank because there is enough volume to handle the organics...my advice, go for something a little larger...say a 40 gallon tank, you'll be glad you did
anyone think my bubble tip will be alright in a 20 long if I am planning a ricordia species tank. It has been in the spot where I put it for 2 weeks. seems happy there. Not concerned with anything except for if it decides to move once the tank is full of expensive ricordias.
The Ric will shrivel away from the anemone and will not expand as much. If the BTA keeps on stinging the Ric it could eventually die. Is there a way you can seperate the two?
I do have the BTA seperated so far. It is on the left side of the tank, up high, on area of rockwork pretty well divided from the rest of the tank. I am just wondering if he will move a trapse across all my ricordia one day, and if this happens will the anemone he touches on the way to a new spot be killed?
