Hi,
What do you think of https://www.tankmatez.com/products/6-inch-bubble-trap-with-bait-chum-pump?variant=23374199685201?
I have a 4-5" blue tang I need out. I'm goign to try the 2 liter soda bottle method, but it's not a bottom feeder, and I don't see this being a success. The opening to allow him in had to be pretty big, and seems big enough he'll just come right out if he ever goes in which I seriously doubt.
Plus I need it sitting on the bottom for a few ddays for him to get used to it. ANd i have to move around corals down there for that. I really don't want to disturb them as they were getting happy in the lighting areas they had.

If the bubble trap really works I'll get it. I dont want to spend $80 but if it works and is 'fast', it's worth it esp to not disturb my corals on bottom.

TY!

Bubble trap -- to catch a blue tang

I use a trap all the time, they work very well.. my hippo tang is usually the first one in it when I'm trying to trap a fish..

I have a rectangular shaped trap with a sliding door. I just patiently wait until the unwanted fish enters and then drop the door.

My trap has a section in the back for placing food to attract them, usually takes about an hour before the fish start taking turns entering it.

Why do you want your blue tang out? Mine is one of my favorite fish, and one of the best algae munchers..

THX for that..
So I assume your door goes down quick and smooth? I figure if it's not fast enough I can super glue a little rock to it (?)
It looks very similar to https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/fish-trap-icecap.html
<< which gets 2 stars lol..reviews on that say the door doesnt go down well adn you really can't catch the fish.
Then there's this: https://www.amazon.com/Sea-Side-Aqu...ocphy=9011972&hvtargid=pla-760783580632&psc=1
Looks similar again.

*My blue has killed at least one fish a Dispar anthias, I susepect he killed another. I saw him pount the the anthias into the sand. It wasnt already dying, it may have not been 100%, though the last time I saw the anthias it was. There was no reason for the tang to go after it.. or the other one.

I"m nervous to put other fish in now.

Again, your door goes down fine, and it works fine? if so I'll just get that one. THoug I'll give the 2 liter bottle 2-3 days to see if I get him that way by some weird luck.

TY!

I have this one and it does works well. I did add a small led weight on the bottom of the door. If the blue tang has a voracious appetite, it will go faster

I've also used large sheets of the plastic grid you get from the craft store. It's flexible you can maneuver it around the tank pretty well.

ok lol

I'm using the 2 Liter bottle method. I put the trap in the tank (on bottom of course, no other way to do it) to get fish used to it for a few days. I put some food in two days later. My melanarus went in. Next day I attached nori just inside the entrance, and the blue tang went into it to eat!
I wanted to teach the fish in steps how to access the food, apparently it's working... NExt step I put it all the way in and get fish out :-D

I had a bad experience with Tankmatez traps. In short, they didn't work for me. Found out later, the company is sending out prototypes, still trying to develop a finished product. Had a heckuva time getting a refund, even after the first trap I got from them flooded my floor. Their design is interesting and has potential, but it's nowhere near perfected (at least from my experience) and their customer service and shipping leave much to be desired.
