Bubble Tube - Sensory Item

I'm currently in SickKids (Hospital for Sick Children - Toronto) with my daughter who has just gone through her 3rd heart surgery and one thing that they have been using to slow her heart and increase her oxygen levels is a very cool acrylic tower filled with water, bubbles and lights. First think I saw it as was a skimmer hehehe It's a little on the pricey side and being a DIY'er I'm willing to give it a shot to build and have for her when she comes home.

One think I can't figure out is the bubbles. Unlike with most airstone skimmers there is no line running down the inside of the chamber. How the *&$# is it done? The lights I think I can figure out and not an issue.

Here is what I'm talking about

Thanks Guys (& Girlz) in advance.

Thanks mgranato.

Bigclops, that was my initial thought as well however I'm not very trusting of the one way valves on for the air pumps. That is a lot of water volume.
