The instruction sheet says to clean the pump every 4 months in vinegar.

When you clean it, do you drop it into a vinegar solution assembled, or is it necessary to break it down? Do you use straight vinegar, or dilute it? do you run the pump or just let it soak. How long do you leave it in the vinegar.

I would use 50/50 vinegar and water. You can just soak it overnight, then run it for a fwe minutes to move out any debris. Then after that tear it down, clean the inside out, and reassemble. You should be good to go after that.
