Tank set up for nine months and bubles rising from live rock and sand. they stick all over pipeing power heads . Is this normal ? Seems worse after water changes or after cleaning canister filter.
All tests are ok alk 7 and cal 420 sal 1.025

Were you by chance moving anything around? Maybe you just disturbed an air pocket of some sort?

Did you have any airline tubing or whatever in the tank? Maybe something is releasing air into the tank?

If you have a skimmer, try running it wet, as this might help.

If none of the above, I really have no idea. Maybe someone else would check this out and have some clues.

I'd say it is probably a maturing of your sandbed and the final step of the nitrogen process of turning some of your nitrates into nitrogen gas. Should not be a problem.

25 gal tank do 5 gal change weekly easier than mixing 5 gal using 3 gal have 2 gal left over every week. Good or bad ?

I have a 29g. If I'm having water issues, I change 5g per week. If no issues, I change 5g every two weeks.

I'm not saying I'm right at all. I'm just saying what I do. I'm not really sure if it's possible to "over-change" your water or not.

I agree with Shooter7. Sounds like sand bed maturing. As far as water changes, there are several schools of thought on that. I don't want to start a big thing about it here, so I'll just say everything sounds fine to me. HTH

Bubbles are common during sand be maturation. However the bubbles on the rock and powerheads could indicate nuisance algae. It's tough to say without a photo. If the bubbles are on top of the rock, I would definitely suspect cyano, or diatoms, for example, but if they are just under the rock, it could jsut be from the sand bed.
