What's the fun in that.:D
+ The more harassing posts I make the closer you are to a thread split.

Yeah no wonder why you have 3000 posts in the last six months. You must jump from thread to thread just pestering everyone huh with these short useless posts? LOL!

Try writing some real posts that are at least longer than a line and maybe my thread split will come sooner...

Long posts get too boring to read.;)
Here is the second line of pointless text.:D

I'm sorry I had to. No more stupid posts from me... at least on your thread. I will see you two on the LB thread.:p

If you promise to stop harassing me then I will promise to keep my posts short & sweet. How's that?

See Marc we can act like adults... LOL!

Alright, stop the boredom, not on the tank thread topic but still pretty cool. I took a bunch of video at the Waikiki Aquarium the end of June. Pretty sweet place and some pretty cool tanks. Click the scaling button so that it is off and for best playback.

UPDATES??? How's the new skimmer? Have any plumbing leaks?

The new skimmer is doing well and there was a small leak on the one right side bulkhead. A little tightening and it has been fine. Other than that all the plumbing is holding up well. Thanks for all your help Jeremy and I should include Mike in on the thank you as well as our designated foreman;)

So on Tuesday August 5th I had finally got up the 3 - 250w 12K Reeflux bulbs on Coralvue dimmable ballasts in 3 new mini LumenBright reflectors. I at first had them separated as you can see in this picture but eventually found it unnecessary so they are now stacked up right next to each other. I definitely can see a difference in the crossover light with 3 as opposed to 2 reflectors on this 5ft tank. I have finally burned these bulbs in and will have some PAR tests out shortly with the new set up. These test will be posted on the LumenBright thread as well.

Thought I would change it up a bit and go with 2 - retro 48" 54w T5 bulbs. I have super actinics currently which I expectedly knew the PAR output would be low. 420nm does not pull much PAR. I do have a couple ATI bulbs coming - 1 - Aquablue Special and 1 - Blue +. I hear these bulbs put out considerably more PAR. One thing is for sure is I am unfamiliar with mixing supplements with bulbs that are already blue or blue-white. You would almost think the best supplement would be a daylight bulb for these 12K's. I always forget how blue Reeflux 12K's can be right out of the box. I think most people that don't give them a chance see them so blue and think they are like a 14K bulb. But really if you break them in and I mean 3 weeks to a month into them, you really see the white light come through and they turn into more like a sunny day bulb. Anyway, I will see how the T5's go and will post some PAR numbers on another thread to see how supplements do on a fairly big and deep tank. I really think the best way to utilize these are in close groups of six or eight so you can really maximize your PAR. Watt for Watt they are supposed to put out more PAR. But as single bulbs on their own I am doubting I will be impressed. We'll see after I put on the new bulbs.

Here is a shot of the slide rail I built for the front T5 so that I can get it out of the way when getting into the tank. At first I screwed the crossbar to that inlet like I did to the rear T5 and realized quickly that bumping my head would be all too common and I would have to take the T5 bulb out to get into the tank. With the side rail I can push it out of the way and it seems to be working out. I guess I was spoiled having 13-14 inches of room to stick my head with just the two Large LB's.

And here is a shot of 3 new mini LB's with 250w 12K Reeflux bulbs run on 250 watt dimmable ballasts. Yep, I took down the large LB's/ 400w 12K's and swapped in the 3 minis. I figure close to the same wattage as 2 - 400w 12K's even with the T5's and I will have better crossover light minimizing the amount of shadow areas on the coral.

I have the 12K's at 15" from the water. I have the T5's at about 10" from the water. I did not want to go any lower on the T5's and it is nice because the minis rest the same height as the crossbar for the T5's. I can lower the minis a few inches more and not lose any of the T5's light reflected into the tank.

Here is a shot of the t5's and mini LB's in the canopy:

I am really happy with this lighting set up so far - only been a couple weeks. I can't believe how much less heat these 250's put out. Man 400w watters are strong. It is going to be even easier to regulate heat especially at 15". I will get some PAR tests up as soon as possible.

Here is a full shot of the tank taken 8/7. It has been a year since it has been plumbed. The majority of the coral started as frags and small colonies. It has been going well and has taken off over the last five months.

Here are some of the closeups Jeremy...these were all taken today 9.1.08 - pumps on - 70-200IS lens

I will post them in groups of three...

Staghorn sp. - was a grey coral and has been turning ice blue with ice blue polyps over the last year. It was about 3" around when I got it and it is 7" around now. Have had it a about 14 months.

Ultra Crocea Clam - about 6"-7" purchased about 2 months ago - looks green from the top down

Montipora sp. looked like a witch hat when I got it - has lost a bit of its bright purple color. Has fused the rock together around it allowing for the rock on the left to be suspended. Bought it about 14 months ago at about 3 inches around and has grown to 8"x 5" with some folds.

Anyone feel free to give some actual species names on some of these. I know what families they are from just not species names on some. Matt, Justin, Mike, and Jeremy I am sure can identify some of these...

Tricolor Stag - the skin is a brownish green right now but it has potential - it has lime green tips growing in and purple rims by the tips.

Tricolor sp. - this was a coral on its way downhill. A friend gave me this and 3 other pieces to see if I can turn them around. I lost two pieces pretty quickly and this one and another small piece I will post later has definitely turned around.

Montipora sp. - Reminded me of an Elkhorn but Matt form Sho Tank sold it as a montipora. Pretty coral - got some algae wedged in its branches and killed a part of the center. This coral is very fragile.

Staghorn sp. - this stag is bright lime green - I have messed with it too much though moving it around a lot. I have broken many tips on this thing. Poor coral. It has only grown a couple inches around - it actually had some hydroids on the plug it came with and has really driven me crazy keeping it under control in the tank - kind of thing that makes you want to chuck the live rock in the garbage - I have tried cooking a piece here and there of rock in a sealed container over a month but they will still come back. Real pain in the arse...

Acanasthrea Lord... Purple with ice blue polyps - nice coral - has been doing well - can't possibly count how many heads - maybe a 100. bought for $70 last year from Sho Tank - thanks Matt!

These two Acan lords came on a huge piece of live rock a long with another piece this size and a 2" around piece that went to Acropora Nut. I purchased the whole rock for $80 after Aquarium Adventure discount. I went in to get some food and found this. What a steal - can give plenty to friends. They are red and grey and has purple on the inner ring and cie blue polyps. Purchased last month.

This orange monti was growing really nice under the right side pillar. 3 large branches were broken off from the Tangs swimming around. Probably my own fault for continually aquascaping the tank. It happened wen I had left the smallest space between the pillar and the middle shelf. It still looks nice and I was able to give some frags out - this was grown from a 1.5" frag. Put in the tank about a year ago.

This poci and all of these coral in this post were given to me by acropora nut. Thanks Mike! ;)
This poci is getting richer in color and has grown an inch and half around since I got it 6 months ago.

This montipora sp. was also an inch and a half frag that is now 4" x 2" and a 1.5" taller. It has gotten a richer green coral and is growing nicely.

This tabling acro is from this piece from acropora nut's tank:

<a href="http://s181.photobucket.com/albums/x278/jmemije11/?action=view&current=TurquoiseTableAcrofinal.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x278/jmemije11/TurquoiseTableAcrofinal.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

This was a 1" piece and has now grown to 2" x 1.5".
