Has any one here ever built ther own skimmer? and if so was it worth the time and effort when it was done? I'm thinking about trying one Ive seensome good and some generic ones over the years.

B-Rad has built a number of skimmers, and I can't imagine that would keep making them if they weren't worth the time and effort. Jtesdall has also made a few and I'm sure others have too. Go over to www.iowareefs.com and ask your question there. I'm sure you'll get more response as hardly any of the club members monitor the RC forum.
