Building a 29 gallon reef

I have decided to convert my 20 gallon FOWLR to a 29 gallon reef. I plan to take everything from the 20 and put in the 29. I have a 130 watt PC light on the way and I already have a good skimmer and a good hob filter. What I want to know is what kind of flow should I have and how should I aim it. Also any other suggestions would be great.

I had a Koralia 2, and the return from a cannister filter is all. Used an Aqua C. I also used 130watts of PC lighting as you plan. Here's a picture before moving upto a 90g.

I ran a 29g with a 30" sundial t5 for a few months. I likes it until I found a 40g breeder and then fell in love with the 18" front to back depth vs the 12" depth of the 29G tank.
For flow I was running a K1 and a K3 plus HOB fuge and hob skimmer.

ddino that is very nice. how do you know where to aim the power head?

Where it didn't kick up the substrate. The return for the filter was aimed straight forward. But it also had holes in the side of it to give some side current.

Do you have the 29 gallon tank yet? If your upping the tank in that range size why not go for a 30? Its a full 3'long where a 29 gallon is 30'' I believe.

Yes I already have the 29g it was free and I know it holds water so I got it.

29 mixed Reef, at this point i would recommended 90 gal plus, 29 can fill up so fast.

This was my first 29 gal under PC Lights

I have a 29g cycling right now, first reef... It's got a Koralia 2, Koralia Evo 750, and about 350ish gph coming from the return pump...

My surface agitation is amazing, and things stay suspended, mostly ending up in the overflow, I rarely see things settle to the sandbed. I'll admit that I have a fairly open aquascape right now though... Less was more for me...

But anyways, I have a powerhead on each side, and the return on the side with the K2, and am pushing about 1700gph total flow in the display... Doesnt really matter where I aim the powerheads, as long as they are pointed up a bit so not to move my sand.
