building a Sump

Hi, i was wondering. I have a 34 gallon tank. Do u guys think 10 gallon is big enough for it. If I make a sump out of it? If u do. How big of a pump do u think?

Sure, I have 10G sump on my 55G tank, works fine. I use Dolphin DP-560 return pump. It is a bit overkill for such small sump. But it works :)

the bigger the sump, the better you will be in regards to micro bubbles.. I did a 33 gal under our 120 and it could just barely slow the water down enough to let the bubbles clear before getting sucked back up into our display... my vote is that if you have room for a bigger one.. do it.

Side note: If you are using a skimmer and a host of other equipment.. you will quickly find that a 10 gal. is not big enough either and will be harder to work in, clean and organize all your bits a pieces of equipment if that is where you intend to keep them all.

Ten will work, but I think The advice above is pretty sound, Go bigger if you can. As for pumps I have had Great success with the mag drive series. Three years of constant service never had a problem.
