Building a sump

Okay so I finally have some time to put together a sump with a refuge in the middle.

I plan on using a 30 gal (36x12x16) for the sump. Here is a drawing of how I'm going to set it up generally

I wanted to know the recommended baffle size so my sump/refuge will be able to handle overflow in case of a power outage. I remember seeing an equation to calculate gallons in terms of LxWxH of your sump.

I was thinking 10" baffles, that way there is 6" to take the overflow from the display.

Any help would be appreciated.

You just need to figure out how much your tank drains in the event of an outage. To figure out how much area in the tank that will cover LxWxH/231
