Building an LED powered 540g tank!

Sorry to hear about the Skimmer, I'll never deal with a company like that. As far as LEDs go, I'm building a fixture consisting of XP-G / XR-E. The XP-G are more efficient, I'm running 60° optics on them.

What's up Kermit, you ever get those LED fixtures you were talking about? Anyways I can't give you a good review on the APEX since I haven't set it up yet. I'm still waiting on a few more things before I fully set up the tank. Right now it's just a FOWLR set up, so I don't really need anything fancy.

But for anyone else who cares, here's an update:

I finally got my dual overflow from LifeReef....great piece of acrylic, and best packing ever!

Got my LED lenses the other day too, 200 80 degree lenses for about $45 shipped. Thanks Garage if you check!

Also got my LEDs from a GB, once again thanks Garage! Started soldering the pads on the stars, but ran out of solder today... It's a pain to tin 768 pads....

Alright another update for everyone who might care:

Apparently the blue's I got from the group buy was the wrong color bin, so we're trying to get that whole situation sorted out.

Finally ordered my drivers. I'm going to run 8 MW ELN-60-48D's, with the LED's in a parallel series configuration. Atleast that's the plan for now, if I need more light I'll just order more drivers. BTW for anyone that cares, I'm getting them for $25 a piece, PM if you want info on where.

Also my Water Blaster HY-7000 should be here soon, I'll be using that as a return.

Maybe I'll finally finish setting up this tank, but looks like I'll be getting to leave this island by that time...

Oh, I also got my custom overflow from LifeReef the other week....great work BTW.

More updates:

Ordered 8x 120mm Yate Loon low speed fans for my LED fixture.

Ordered 4x 9v 650ma regulated wall adapters to power the fans.

Trying to figure out what size heatsinks to use for my fixture now. Probably going to be either 8x 8.46"x12" heatsinks or 4x 8.46"x24" heatsinks.

Little sneak preview of my build:
